Okay, call me overly sensitive, call me biased, but I’m really tired of seeing so many people treat Kris as a joke in this MV.
Yes, haha, the artist thing, good job giving him that position SM. Fine. But I don’t think it’s funny anymore.
The part he plays in this video, regardless of how he views it in real life, is serious about this. And as a visual artist myself, I can relate, I’ve been there. All the members are giving gifts meaningful to them, they all have the same idea of sentimentality based on their personalities, so why is Kris’ choice the only one being picked on?
When presenting your work to a group of people or giving something you worked on as a gift, your soul is bared. Having your work criticized openly isn’t the same as a bad letter grade on a paper or having someone be disappointed in something you purchased. It’s a part of you that you invested in; ‘good’ or ‘bad’ in the eyes of others, it’s you. Giving someone a personal painting or poem or other project that you worked on is a serious risk.
So maybe, in the end, Kris couldn’t come up with a finished painting because he couldn’t stop thinking about her - and no beauty could compare to the image he had in his mind. He wraps it and takes it with him anyway because if he can’t create something he thinks is worthy for her, he sure as hell wouldn’t be able to buy one… So a blank canvas is all he can offer.
I am still nobody`s secret santa despite the fact that I reblogged two different posts.
He always bragged about his artistic talent, saying he was the next Picasso. That was actually going to be what he was going to do for Christmas was paint you.
You were the most beautiful girl that he had ever seen in his whole entire life. Were is the key word. There was a bump in your guys’ relationship and you decided to break it off, thinking it wasn’t going to work.
Now, here was Kris sitting on his stool and staring at a blank canvas. He raises up every single artistic instrument he could, but he couldn’t make a stroke.
Tears start to build up in his eyes, and he throws down his brush in frustration. He wrapped up the canvas and left.
no matter how much he told himself how good of an artist he was…he knew he would never be able to capture your beauty.
The shine can blind you. The edges can cut you in way you never imagined.
i’m not attractive naturally i’m just decent looking at the right angle in the right light with the right makeup once in a while on a good day
